Hangin’ at the Thiemeloods

Hangin’ at the Thiemeloods

Thiemeloods During the entire month of August some of my photography can be seen at the Thiemeloods (Leemptstraat 34) in Nijmegen. The Thiemeloods is a place where you can relax, chill out, read a book and listen to some vinyl. My friend Remy, who runs the place, is a self-styled cultural entrepreneur who likes to showcase art by local artists. The Loods is a place where (nearly) everything goes: there are events such as discussion...

Lecture: Filmmaking for dummies

Lecture: Filmmaking for dummies

Lecture For a local filmcompetition in Lux, Nijmegen I was asked to give a lecture on indie filmmaking. The theme of the competition was the future of Nijmegen and the planned artificial island in the river to the north of the city. I’d chosen a very practical approach, since most of the attendees were novices. I called it “Filmmaking for dummies”. It covers everything from cameras to framing, direction to casting,...

“A Way” wins 48 Hour Film Project 2010 Nijmegen

Posted By on Saturday, 17 April, 2010

I’ve co-directed and shot a film for the 48 Hour Film Project 2010 in the city of Nijmegen. Our film took first prize and then some! It will also be submitted for the finals in Miami, USA in March of 2011. The movie tells the story of a dramatic last journey of three siblings contained within a flashback. The idea of the 48 hour film project is to write, shoot and edit a film in 48 hours. It was shot on a Sony EX-1 with a Letus...
