A synth sci-fi short story

Rainy Saturday afternoon. There are strange signals being received…

The Desmodus Versio is still in self-oscillation since last transmission… The ancient signal it emits gets routed through Rainmaker’s pathways.

Both Rainmaker and Desmodus receive two pulses from a distant source, Cirklon, randomized for length, in a random pattern, with the pulses randomly masked, which, when they are actually transmitted, trigger a cataclysmic overload in Desmodus and a full stochastic reconstitution of all parameters of Rainmaker.

The signal from Rainmaker is captured and delayed through the beacon of TimeLine and is retransmitted into what appears to be a very large artificial sphere-like space named BAM.

Parallel to this, a Radio Music source sends out intermittent human(?) voices, the pattern of which is apparently determined by the modulation voltages to its station control and initial position parameters from a galactically slow force known simply as Triple Sloths.

The steady artificial pulsar of Juno-60 has received a control signal in the form of an arp pattern from Kordbot, relayed through Cirklon, which it pulses out into the void in a low register.

Both Juno and Radio’s signals are sped on the same voyage by the great directional force of K2, on through Rainmaker, TimeLine and BAM.

Audible in the transmission received, but indistinguishable from one another, are only the dominant signals of Desmodus, Rainmaker, TimeLine and BAM. They are blending together at Receiver’s end into a new terrifying slow evolving pattern of waves, spelling out… Evoking… Fear… Awe… Menace.

I’m not recording. I’ve decided to just let this happen. It’s been going on for a while now. And I think it is probably too late anyway. It’s on its way. In a sense it is already here. I think I can hear something in the void. It pulses, and seems to speak at the same time in a language never heard before, yet familiar.

For some reason I remember a phrase from an old piece of music… “I can hear myself… I think I’m a bit afraid…”, as suddenly all the lights dim and the signal swells…

An attempt to unblock myself – Music

Technology plays a significant role my creative endeavors. I spent the most time being creative in my studio. In this blog I will look at podcasts and music.

An attempt to unblock myself – Film

Another form of expression I love is very dependent on technology. In this blog I will look at making films and talk about my ambitions and goals.

An attempt to unblock myself – Writing

In the next couple of blogs, I will talk about how technology helps me to get my ideas out into the world. I’ll also reflect upon my ambitions and goals. In this blog I focus on writing.

An attempt to unblock myself

For many years now, I have enacted violence upon myself by stifling my thoughts and expressions. It is time for change.

A Journey Through Our Cosmic Neighborhood

My dad who is nearly 81 years old, is really into space. I thought it would be fun to write a basic introduction to the cosmos for him.

Just a dream

I’ve been frustrated, thinking of selling my studio. Meanwhile I released an album and tried to find inspiration again. This weekend I recorded “Just A Dream”.

Released 5 years ago today – Summer Of ’92

5 years ago today Shipwrec released my CausaliDox EP Summer Of ’92. In this post I take a look back and talk about what the tracks mean to me.

Sampling into Assimil8or

Today I decided to sample some non-electronic instruments into my Eurorack sampler. A tabla, a cabasa, a wooden flute and some pillbottles.

A critic in time

Today I spent some time selecting poems I wrote in my early 20’s for the website. It feels strange to critique myself and my poetry 20-some years later.
