Norway is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever been to. I was fortunate to visit there in 2011, while shooting a music video for The Gathering. There wasn’t a lot of time to hang around and take in the sights, but I did manage to take a few photos while I was there.
Just like you imagine
Norway is just like you imagine, ruggid, rough, ancient. You can sense the connection to the sea everywhere, driving along the coastline. There are numerous uninhabited islands along the coasts, huge blocks of rock sticking out of the sea. We were lucky enough to film on one of these. It’s like you’re stepping onto an alien world once you find a spot to tie down your boat.
The mountains and the cloud
Two things really stand out in the landscape surrounding Bergen, the mountains (which the town is named for) and the clouds. The clouds drifting by were mesmerizing, as if centuries of stories and whole cities floated past you as you stand there high on a mountain, overlooking the town and the harbour. I felt very much at peace in Norway. I hope to visit there again some day.
