Never again

It was a Thursday or a Friday Night, I can’t remember
If It was going to be some sort of closure, or meant as a way to become closer,
Or a way to feel the universe, to embody eternity
I will never know
Maybe all of these things

The come-up is dark, the engrams are dormant, the key lost
But the night was stormy
As we walked on the forest path
The clouds violent and morphing overhead
Just like we liked them
Then the roar and the lights
Even though it only lasted seconds
We excitedly felt the possibility of the impossible

And later or before
When the leaves and the sky danced
Exchanging places
In the dark of the forest on the dirt
With you
I was happy
Briefly, deeply
Connected in our confusion

The planet spun and apparently we had walked
Back into reality
There were large questions
With true answers
We didn’t know
Although the future felt vaster
Than it ever would again
